Interstate General Media ownership again requests early bargaining, concessions from the Newspaper Guild.

September 12, 2012billrossInquirer

Dear Guild member,

Guild leadership met this afternoon with Interstate General Media co-owners Gerry Lenfest and Lewis Katz, at their request.

Mr. Lenfest and Mr. Katz spoke of the dire financial situation facing the company, and reiterated management’s recent request that the Guild bargain a concessionary contract now, despite the fact that our contract with the employer is in effect until October 2013.

We told Mr. Lenfest and Mr. Katz that if they are able to reach contracts with the other 9 unions who represent employees who produce and deliver the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News, we will have further discussions with the company at that time.

In solidarity,

Dan Gross, President,

Bill Ross, Executive Director , and the Executive Board of the Newspaper Guild/Communications Workers of America Local 38010
