President: Max Marin
I helped start a union with my former colleagues at WHYY and I’ve been a Guild steward since joining The Inquirer in 2021. I love being a reporter, and I know that a strong union is key to protecting our jobs – whether it be from industry economics or the uncharted waters of Al.
1st Vice President: Michaelle Bond
I’m a reporter who’s been at The Inquirer for 12 years and currently writes about real estate and housing issues. As we’ve gone through furloughs, layoffs, restructurings, and buyouts, I’ve seen how important the Guild’s work is and the strength of solidarity. In 2024, I joined the executive board as one of the vice presidents.
2nd Vice President: Ellie Rushing
I came to The Inquirer as a young intern six years ago and fought my way onto staff, where I am a criminal justice reporter. From day one, I was inspired by the potential of The Inquirer, and that holds true today – but there’s a lot of progress to be made. I’d be honored to join the leadership to help Inquirer is a place where we can all build lasting careers, support one another, and thrive together.
3rd Vice President: Eva Von Weltin
Treasurer: Donna Stokes
Donna is “a Philly girl.” Employed in the finance department, she has been with the company for 30 years. She currently serves on the Guild executive board.
Secretary: Joe Yerardi
I’m a data journalist at The Philadelphia Inquirer and the secretary of the NewsGuild of Greater Philadelphia. I’ve been a Guild activist ever since joining the organizing committee at a former employer back in 2018. Since then, I’ve served as a unit chair, a member of two bargaining committees, a member of my old local’s executive council and as a member organizer with the Guild. I’m excited to help our union continue organizing more workers, winning great contracts and growing our power. I encourage our members to hit me up anytime.
