The NewsGuild of Greater Philadelphia

ANTI-BLACK PANEL DISCUSSION AND MONDAY’S HOLIDAY

Dear Guild members:

In the event you did not receive the email from the NewsGuild-CWA in Washington, there is still time to register for tonight’s panel discussion, “Was that the Reckoning? Addressing anti-Black Racism in the News Industry.”

On the panel will be Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones and NewsGuild of New York President Susan DeCarava, Desiree Stennett of the Orlando Sentinel and Erin Logan of the L.A. Times.

You can register here.

Also, a reminder that Monday, June 20, is a holiday at The Inquirer, the company’s observance of Juneteenth. That means most people are off.

If you are scheduled to work, please let your supervisors (and Kronos) know how you want that to be recorded: You can either be paid double (16 hours) for working that holiday, or be paid for 8 hours and be owed a day off to be taken within 30 days.

If you have any questions on either tonight’s event or Monday’s holiday, just reply to this bulletin.

In solidarity,

Diane
