DFM JOINT TALKS BEGIN IN DENVER

June 30, 2016billrossInquirer

Guild members,

Twelve Digital First Media bargaining units, including ours, will take part in joint contract negotiations with DFM management on July 6, 7, and 8 in Denver.

The negotiations represent the first time that DFM has bargained jointly with the Guild in this way.

Eleven of 12 bargaining units, covering 12 different newspapers, are working under the terms of expired contracts.  The 12th contract, covering workers at the St. Paul Pioneer Press, will expire September 30.

These negotiations are a continuation of our DFM coordinated campaign, which began on January 13 and has involved a number of nationwide membership actions – including our Day of Action on June 17, which launched a new petition to Alden
Global Capital that has gathered nearly 10,000 signatures.

While we are working toward a common goal, each bargaining unit is participating voluntarily, and each bargaining unit has the right to withdraw from the process.  If an agreement is reached, it would, as always, be subject to a membership
ratification vote in each bargaining unit.

Please wear your #NewsMatters T-shirts on Wednesday, July 6, and Thursday, July 7, to show your support for the bargaining committee.

In Unity,

#NEWSMATTERS
