The NewsGuild of Greater Philadelphia

(KRONOS) TIME IS ON OUR SIDE

April 6, 2016billrossInquirer

In response to the Kronos memo you received earlier today, Guild leaders met with the Company to discuss implementation and ramifications. When this new system begins:

You will be required to fill out your own Kronos digital time cards honestly and accurately.

If you are a newsroom employee, you should be paid for all hours that you work for the company, whether that’s writing, reporting, interviewing, answering/asking questions of your editors, Tweeting, posting to Facebook, responding to comments on your Philly.com stories, traveling (except to and from office), researching, shooting video, etc.

The Guild is well aware that many of you have given the company countless unpaid hours over the years and we have made this point repeatedly. The Company is now well aware that Guild members will begin putting in the hours they actually work and for many of you this will be more than the standard 40-hour week.

We expect your full cooperation (please document your time if you expect to be working extra hours) and urge you to spend any additional wages wisely.

Thanks. In solidarity.
