Health and Welfare Fund update

June 5, 2012billrossInquirer

Guild members,

A QUICK, BUT IMPORTANT NOTE FROM THE NEWSPAPER GUILD HEALTH & WELFARE FUND

Some members said they had not read the recent email about the health and welfare fund’s open enrollment deadline  which also contained the information below so we wanted to resend it.

On  May 31, we completed our first year under our 2-year agreement with Aetna. As of June 1, if you were enrolled in the medical/Rx drug/vision benefit program, an additional $750 for those with member only coverage, or $1,500 for those with spouse/family coverage was added to your HRA (Health Reimbursement Account) along with any unused amounts from the prior benefit year. This plan year will end May 31, 2013. As has been the case, if you have an FSA (Flexible Spending Account), that account will run from January 1 until December 31.

Through the efforts of the Guild Trustees, we have secured a new benefit which began June 1. Although the prescription mail order plan has been improved over the past few months, you will now be able to obtain a 90-day supply of your prescription drugs at the in-network retail pharmacy of your choosing, rather than use the mail order service – although you may still use the mail order service if that is easier for you. There are some limitations, so watch for the informational flyer from Aetna coming to your home regarding this new service.
