Meet our staff

Frank Santafede (left),  Rita Dooling, and Bill Ross

Your volunteer elected officers are backed by a deeply experienced and strong staff -- one of the very best in the Newspaper Guild movement.

As our administrative officer, Frank Santafede (fsantafede@local-10.com) is in charge of this staff. He is a former reporter who worked his way up to the presidency of the Guild in Providence, R.I., before becoming a full-time union worker. Frank's job is to orchestrate the work of the staff and develop expertise on various remedies for the problems we face. His job is to stay cool and find ways to make our contracts work for us and help win contractual disputes. He helps us avoid plunging into battles without preparing carefully so that the outcomes are most likely to benefit all of us. He's deeply experienced and well trained in the art and science of trade unionism. He's a most valuable asset to all of our members.

The other staff members are:

Rita Dooling (rdooling@local-10.com), who meticulously keeps track of every dime of your dues money and handles a wide variety of other administrative and financial matters. Among many other things, she makes sure we meet deadlines on a wide variety of issues and get the most for our money.

Bill Ross (bross@local-10.com), also a professional representative of the local, came to us in the year 2000 with a dozen years of union staff experience with the Teamsters and Food Service Workers unions. He's already had a profound impact on the quality of the working conditions in the circulation and advertising departments of The Inquirer and Daily News. He's a smart negotiator and strategist, and he's teaching us all valuable lessons about the trade union movement that he learned in service to the other unions.

Drop by the Guild Hall, 1329 Buttonwood Street (a block from the front door of The Inquirer and Daily News) and meet our staff. Call on them for help -- and treat them in a way that sets a most positive example for our employers.
