HELP WANTED

The Guild makes a positive difference in the lives and work of  its members. We could do even more if we had more volunteers. Many Guild roles are rewarding and educational. Let us know if you would consider giving 15 minutes or more a month to this important cause. E-mail us -- describe the interests and skills your might bring to this important work.

We need:

Shop stewards -- If the department or desk where you work doesn't have one, please elect a steward right away. This person will work with your Guild officers and our highly trained staff to resolve a wide range of issues related to your job and the working condtions in your area.

Safety committee members -- our most important job is to make sure that everything possible is done to create a safe working environment and assure that our members are properly trained and equipped to work safely wherever the go in the line of duty.

Repetitive strain injury committee members -- this committee works very closely with Anne Burke, R.N., the company's RSI consultant, to make certain that your desk is properly equipped and adjusted and that you know the right posture and exercises to avoid painful injuries.

And there are many opportunities for short-term work. We're engaged in contract talks with three newspapers owned by the Journal Register Co. of Trenton. Our success in this effort is essential to preserving and improving the wages and working conditions of newspapers throughout this region.
